Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Tumblr is a collection of photos, links, sayings, blog posts, videos & tidbits from both inside and outside the Garden. Links may come from a variety of sources, and when we post something to our Tumblr it is not an endorsement, but simply something we think is noteworthy or interesting. We dig stories and photos about beautiful places, people & plants, #playoutdoors, green practices, gardening, climate change, growing food & much much more.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s Tumblr is curated by Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s PR & Marketing team, including PR & Marketing Coordinator, Jonah Holland, and intern Garrett McLees.
Here are some more photos of my behind the scenes look at Butterflies LIVE! These photos show Grant Howell and Jay Forehand attaching the pupae to box tops. Each pupae is glued to a piece of paper which is then glued to the box tops using a hot glue gun. (The process does not damage them, so no butterflies were harmed in the process.) This method is necessary because when the tops are placed on the boxes the pupae are able to hang down as they would naturally. It is difficult to predict when the butterflies will emerge, each will take as much time as it needs. When the butterflies finally do emerge they will be in the boxes until they are released into the Conservatory for the start of Butterflies LIVE! beginning May 25th.
